when it's dark outside
and I'm lying alone in my bed.
It's the missing touch of your warm fingers
now that the days get colder.
It's the silence in my room
when I'm finally home
after a long exhausting day.
It's the empty message inbox
when I check my mobile phone
being disappointed again.
It's me standing in the corner
when there are couples dancing and kissing
all around the fucking club.
It's your picture in my memory.
It's the absence of you
which fills me from head to toe
and makes my heart want to scream.
Your ever-present non-presence
which makes me realise
how much I still care.
